What's the status on my claim?

Most banks take approximately 7-14 days to decide on a claim. Many take up to 30 days. 

Recoup has up to 30 days for each claim to earn our commission.   

Recoup knows if a bank has decided to issue a refund only once the refunds have posted to your account. As a result, we can't give specific status updates beyond general timeframes.

If it's been more than 4 weeks since your most recent claim was filed, generally, it may be that your bank has decided against a refund at this time. 

However, we resubmit claims on a regular basis to different bank decision makers. If we decide to do so in your case, you will receive new automatic emails notifying you of such.   

We understand this is not the specific answer you wanted at this time. Rest assured, our algorithms are monitoring your past claim and any future fees to decide the optimal timing to resubmit.

Refunds Are Not Guaranteed



¹Refunds are not guaranteed, vary on a case-by-case basis, and are the final decision of your financial institution. Recoup makes no representation that we will file a refund claim for any or all fees. We make no representation that we will file claims during any regular interval. The type and frequency of claims filing is at our sole discretion based on our experience and expertise with any number of variables including, but not limited to, your bank, your fee history, and past successful refund history.

Do not use Recoup if your bank balance has been negative for more than 14 days, if you have failed to make regular payments or are otherwise in default with your financial institution. Doing so may result in your financial institution closing your account. Recoup is not intended for people who are persistently or currently overdrawn and hoping a fee refund will bring their account current. Financial Institutions close accounts, with or without filing a bank fee refund claim by yourself or through Recoup, when account balances are negative for anywhere from 14-90 days. Do not use Recoup if you feel you have overused fees at your bank. Doing so may result in you bringing this to your bank’s attention sooner than otherwise — resulting in your bank closing your account. Recoup is intended only for people who have current accounts in good standing with their financial institution seeking to get some fees refunded as a courtesy.

Security is essential to everything we do at Recoup. Separate access controls are enforced at each layer of infrastructure. Multi-factor authentication is required for access to our infrastructure. All application and user access logs are stored centrally and monitored. Recoup’s infrastructure regularly undergoes both internal and external network penetration tests, and third-party code reviews. Our technology has also completed a SOC 2 report. Recoup’s platform allows client requests using strong TLS protocols and ciphers. Communication between infrastructure and financial institutions is transmitted over encrypted tunnels. All client communication with banks utilize cryptographically hashed headers and timestamps to verify authenticity.
